Excerpt from "Paradise Villa" (2019)
That was a time when I had a fancy dream of settling in the countryside, the period when I came to Paradise Villa with three other strangers in this world. We spent a month together, we hugged, we cried and we kissed each other, but we didn’t become friends.
The villa was even more elaborate than we saw on Facebook - a huge chalky white facet with Spanish rooftops tiled with ochre bricks, overlooking the broad and endless vineyard with grapes that glittered like clear crystals. The front was a huge metal gate secured by a shabby bike lock, always boiling hot under the sun. I had always imagined us getting burgled in those days, as our only watchdog, an old Spaniel, was always sleeping under the green shade like a retired old man...(2888 words)
